10 and Under Tennis
USTA Missouri Valley manages Youth Progression, a program where kids play tennis on smaller courts with the correct sized racket, so they can learn and progress more easily. The balls are also modified to reduce bounce, keeping the ball in their strike zone and allowing for longer rallies! Players progress from playing on a 64ft. court with orange balls to a full-size 78ft. court with green balls, before ultimately moving up to yellow ball tennis.
Participants earn credit playing in 10U Smashers tournaments, in the form of stars and trophies. USTA Missouri Valley tracks player progression and promotes them based on credits earned. Many players continue to play at their current ball color, only moving up when they feel more confident and are winning matches. This is not a race!
To see if your child is ready for Youth Progression and 10U Smashers tournaments, don’t hesitate to reach out to Toni McDonald, our 10U Coordinator. She’ll be able to answer ALL your questions.
